Representing rural residents in Banjup, Jandakot, and Treeby

My name is Erika Antal, and I moved to Banjup with my family of 4 in 2013.  I have a Science Degree in Environmental Science and I am very exited to be able to finally live somewhere surrounded by nature. Our land has been cleared most of its native vegetation, so I was surprised to see the abundance of wildlife that adjusted to the area. We have 4 Brushtail Possums on our block, also Bandicoots, many Fairy Wrens, Scarlet Robbins, Carnaby’s Cockatoos and lots of other parrot species and of course the honey eaters.

I started to gather information specific to this area about soil, plants, wildlife habitat creation, wetlands, fire safety and anything that can enhance this area. As I have access to scientific work through Murdoch University, I would like to share my knowledge and findings with everyone who is living in the region. I would also like to create a forum where we can all comment and share information on our trials and errors of trying to rehabilitate this land, so we do not all have to reinvent the wheel. We can learn from each other.
